Celebrating Successful Women The INGENO WAY
As part of 2019 International Women’s Day, INGENO is joining the #MyFeminism movement by sharing our admiration for Sylvie Gélinas, an impactful and inspiring woman.
An outstanding background in the business industry, working in Washington DC at Canada’s Embassy and doing Strategic Monitoring in Japan shows how much of a high-achiever she is. Sylvie’s trademark empathy for others also led to pursuing an international career in the fight against AIDS.
She is now mainly focused on the challenges of collaboration and creativity. Following her Masters degree in Creative Studies, Creativity and Change Leadership, she teached and authored a book on the subject.
Sylvie is the founder and CEO of Noos Technologie Inc., a project in which INGENO is a partner and close collaborator. On this March 8th, we are driven to share how much we admire her dedication, her uncommon sense of leadership, and how much we cherish this special relationship.
Noos Technologie Inc. is an AI solution enabling diverse organizations to achieve better Lean communication, a prerequisite to improving collaboration and decision-making processes regarding strategic challenges. Noos is a collective knowledge platform fostering the rapid emergence of thorough, agile collective reflexions. Proactively and continuously using people’s knowledge of critical issues makes organizations more productive.
Q: Sylvie, you have such a unique background! Can you tell us how you came up with the idea for Noos Technologie Inc.?
R: Looking back, I must admit that I was a bit bewildered by the sinuousness of my career path and didn’t know where it would lead me. After a while, I could finally connect all the dots and found out that they were all somehow related to human’s capacity to collaborate and take individual and collective decisions when it comes to achieving common goals faster. I then left for Buffalo, where I did a Master in Creativity and Leadership of Change. It was a fork in the road, and it led me to the creation of Noos.
Q: What was the best advice someone has given to you?
R: It may sound strange, but it came from someone I’ve never known the name! His words were quite influencing, and I’m sure it affected my way of seeing Entrepreneurship. He said that “as entrepreneurs, it was our duty to be realistically optimistic.”
Indeed, I always thought that to be an entrepreneur, you must first be resilient. We have to deal with all kinds of ups and downs, and it’s part of the job. However, we must never let ourselves fall into a sense of despair and dive into a pessimist mode. When things don’t work out, it doesn’t mean there’s no solution. It only means you have not identified it yet.
The key to being a better entrepreneur is to find in yourself the conviction that you can solve your problems. When you have that mindset, you’ll keep thinking, digging, twisting things and finally come up with a satisfying answer.
All the team here wishes every inspiring, brilliant and courageous women a happy International Women’s Day. We dedicate this day to INGENO’s seven amazing Ninja Ladies with whom we share our daily professional lives. We hope that learning about Sylvie’s story inspires you to dare, face your fears and have the courage to live up to your ambitions.
